This international favorite, and the number one food in Germany, is actually MUCH easier to make at home than you might expect.
Ingredients
1 lb ground lamb or beef
1 onion
1 tbsp yogurt
1 tbsp olive oil
2 tsp smoked paprika
2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp onion powder
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
Flatbread or pita
Toppings
Chilli sauce
Garlic sauce
Lettuce
Red onion
Cucumber
Peel and grate your onion into a puree and throw it into a blender or food processor.
Add the ground meat, yogurt, olive oil and all the seasonings. Blend until fully combined.
Split the mixture into two portions. Lay out some parchment paper, add half the mixture on top, place another sheet of parchment paper over it.
Press it down, then roll it out with a rolling pin until it’s thin. Remove the top paper and roll the meat up tightly.
Repeat with the second half of the mixture.
Place both rolls on a tray and cook in the oven at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes.
Once cooked, unwrap, slice, load it up in your flatbread with your sauces and salad.
Enjoy!
